eSIM Tern

How it works

An eSIM is a SIM card that lives inside your phone. You buy a data plan online, install it in a couple of minutes, and switch it on when you arrive.

  1. Check your phone

Your phone needs to support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked. Our checker tells you in 30 seconds.

  2. Choose a plan and pay

Pick your destination, then how much data and how many days you need. The price you see is the price you pay.

  3. Get your eSIM

As soon as your payment is confirmed, your QR code appears on screen and in your email. It's also saved in your account.

  4. Install before you leave

Scan the QR code while you're on Wi-Fi, ideally a day or two before you fly. Installing doesn't start your plan.

  5. Switch on when you land

Turn on the eSIM for mobile data and turn on data roaming for it. Your plan starts when it first connects to a network there.

Tips that avoid problems

  • Install on Wi-Fi before you travel. You need an internet connection to download the eSIM.
  • Don't delete the eSIM from your phone after installing it. Most eSIMs can only be installed once.
  • Turn on data roaming for the travel eSIM. It's normal: the eSIM connects to a partner network abroad.
  • To avoid charges from your home network, turn off data roaming on your usual SIM.
